  Pirate's Final Voyage                          

On October 12, 1950 during sweeping operations between the Islands of Sin-Do in Wanson Harbor Korea, the Pirate struck a mine at approximately 12:01 PM and went down within a four minute period.  
The following photos were taken by SN G.D. Carpenter , with his own camera, 
while on board the USS Redhead AMS-34 and following behind the USS Pirate.
Photos were taken at approximately one minute intervals
Photograph Number four shows enemy artillery (from the beach) firing on survivors in the water
